At Hope in Action Resource Team (HART), our heart is rooted in putting compassion into motion. We believe that true hope is not just a feeling—it is an action. On September 5th, we are honored to stand alongside incredible kingdom partners across our region to serve, feed, and love our unhoused neighbors on the front lines.
While this specific outreach is not a HART-run ministry, we are filled with gratitude to see fellow ministries serve the homeless, which are Water of Life Ministries, CityLink, Water of Life Men’s Ministry, and Luke 9 Ministry. Together, these organizations embody the hands and feet of Jesus, providing tangible relief and genuine connection to those facing hardship in our community.
God’s Call to Feed and Care for the Needy
Throughout Scripture, God explicitly calls His people to be a shield, a comfort, and a provider for the poor and vulnerable. Meeting a person’s immediate physical needs—like providing a hot meal—is often the very first step toward building trust, restoring dignity, and reflecting the love of Christ.
1. Ministering to Jesus Himself
When we serve the marginalized, God views our service as being done directly unto Him. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus leaves no ambiguity about how He views our care for those in need:
“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in… Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” > — Matthew 25:35, 40
2. A Mandate to Action: “You Give Them Something to Eat”
The name of Luke 9 Ministry points directly to the Gospel account where the disciples were overwhelmed by a hungry crowd. Instead of sending the people away empty-handed, Jesus turned to His followers with a direct command:
“You give them something to eat.” > — Luke 9:13
Jesus demonstrated that ministry begins right where we are, with whatever resources we have in our hands. When we step out in obedience, God multiplies our effort to satisfy both physical and spiritual hunger.
3. Pouring Ourselves Out
Isaiah reminds us that true faith shines brightest when we actively share our bread with the hungry and uplift those in distress:
“And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.” > — Isaiah 58:10
The Power of Unity in the Body of Christ
No single organization can break the cycle of homelessness alone. It takes the collective body of Christ working in harmony—combining resources, volunteers, and prayer—to bring lasting transformation to Southern California.
- Water of Life Ministries & CityLink: Consistently acting as a beacon of hope, providing comprehensive outreach, food distribution, and supportive care across the Inland Empire.
- Water of Life Men’s Ministry: Equipping men to step into active servant leadership and practice tangible ministry on the streets.
- Luke 9 Ministry: Living out the biblical directive to feed the hungry and bring the light of Christ directly to those in need.
As HART continues our vision of moving families and individuals from immediate crisis to long-term stability through our “Feeding First” philosophy, we applaud and support these vital ministry partners.
